Emergence

Have you heard of emergence?

It's a theory which suggests the whole is greater than the sum of all parts.

Let's simplify this. Imagine you have eggs, flour and milk, combine them, and with a little magic, you'll create pancakes. That's better than the ingredients alone, right? This is how emergence works.

You combine the separate materials, and in return, create a better result. Separately, an engine, four wheels and a roll-cage are useless to you but combined they create a car.

Our world thrives because of emergence. When we bring emergence into our own lives, we create incredible results for ourselves. What's the simplest way to consciously bring emergence into ourselves? Focus on the mind-body connection.

Most of us live in a world where we treat the mind and body as separate entities, but there's a visceral (deeply-emotional) connection between our minds and bodies. When you take advantage of this connection, you create emergence.

When the mind and body work together, it's not a case of 1 + 1 = 2.

It's a case of 1 + 1 = 11.

Don't take my word for it. If you want proof, all you need to do is listen to one of the many TED talks which describe the power of posture, facial expressions, and exercise on the mind. The same is true in reverse. There are hundreds of TED talks that discuss how meditation, mindset and mental rehearsal affects physical performance.

Harness the power of the mind-body connection, and you'll become a force of nature, Why? Because you'll create emergence. You'll take that 1 + 1 equation, and you'll create 11 in the process.

Athletes know that by upgrading their minds, they'll enhance their bodies. CEOs know that by improving their bodies, they'll upgrade their performance. Emergence as a concept isn't a well-kept secret, but the force multiplier you get from emergence is.

If you want to become an alpha, you'll get some results by changing your mind, but you'll get even better results by changing your body as well. If you want to become a fitness model, you'll get results by changing your body, but you'll get even better results by changing your mind as well.

Harness the power of emergence by taking advantage of the visceral mind-body connection we all possess.

A Lesson for Future Champions

Whatever goals you're working toward, recruit both your mind and body towards those goals. The mind and body are not separate entities. They're viscerally connected.

When the mind and body work together, the results are exponential.

It's not 1 + 1 = 2.

It's 1 + 1 = 11.

Harness the power of the mind-body connection by aligning your thoughts with your actions. From here, you'll create emergence. From here, you'll start to multiply your results.
